I would bet that the OP's new shotgun just needs taken apart.and reassembeled properly. If you own an older Model 500.put a steel safty button on it.and check the safty out for proper function. My thoughts on the Mossberg pump guns.they are good shotguns.but QC just ain't all that great. Other Mossberg pumpgun issues being shitty safty buttons that broke(Mossberg sometimes overtightened the screw).saftys that would kick off safe and fire with a pull of the trigger.I saw at least one new 500 pump that was both assembeled wrong.and missing parts from the factory(a. Really an easy fix.just take it apart and reassemble it properly. Let me first start by saying i really have no knowledge when it comes to shotguns but i do have a mossberg 590, now i need your help guys, I was planning on cleaning my shotgun today, i started by taking out the barrel, and then i was about to take out the bolt, somehow the bolt got stuck forward, i pressed. Getting the shell stop's actuating lug on the wrong side of the action bar.and the shotgun wouldn't feed shells for shit!!. I can remember several of the issues involved improper assembly of the shell-stops and action bars.Mossberg was putting them together wrong. The specific model we are reviewing today is the 590A1 nine-shot model, complete with bayonet lug, ghost ring sights, and a Speed Feed stock that holds four extra rounds. At home you can polish the chamber to prevent stuck casings and look at the parts for sharp edges or burrs that may cause hang ups. Also, run the action like you were trying to break it to help prevent any feeding or ejection issues. We quit the brand after too many complaints.started stocking cheap Winchesters for budget shotguns. As for the stuck action, mortar it to eject the casing. Wasn't at all unusual for the Mossberg pumps to have issues brandnew from the box. I used to work in a local hardware store after school. The store sold all sorts of firearms at that time.including Mossberg and New Haven shotguns. Based upon Mossberg’s legendary 500 pump-action platform, 590 tactical guns include non-binding twin action bars positive steel-to-steel lock-up and anti-jam elevator dual extractors drilled and tapped receivers and universally-recognized, ambidextrous top-mounted safety.
